Goat or Sheep for Aqiqah and Qurban? How to Choose

Both Goat and Sheep Are Valid

For both Aqiqah and Qurban, goat and sheep (including lamb) are permissible and widely used. The choice often comes down to preference, budget, and how you plan to use the meat.

Sheep (Lamb)

Sheep is often chosen for its tender, mild-flavoured meat. It suits curries, biryani, grilling, and roasts. Whole sheep are available in various weight bands for Qurban and Aqiqah.

Goat

Goat meat is leaner and has a distinct flavour. It is popular in many Asian and Middle Eastern dishes. Goat is also commonly used for Aqiqah and Qurban and can be more economical in certain weight ranges.

How to Decide

  • Consider how many people you want to feed and your budget.
  • Choose weight band and cut style (e.g. fridge, salona, biryani) when you book.
  • We deliver to Cheras, Ampang, Taman Melawati, Serdang, Sri Kembangan, Cyberjaya, Putrajaya, and KL.

Taste, yield, and budget

Sheep meat is often described as tender and mild — popular for Aqiqah meals with many guests. Goat offers a distinct flavour and can be economical in certain weight bands. Both meet common age thresholds shown in our order steps (sheep over six months, goat over one year).

Feeding size guide (rule of thumb)

  • Small family gathering: lighter weight band or half carcass where available
  • Large extended family: higher weight whole goat or sheep
  • Charity-heavy distribution: confirm portions with our team on WhatsApp
